Caesar although starting a journey as a tattoo apprentice later than most, Caesar has been involved in the visual arts for over 40 years.
Upon graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1986 with a BFA in Drawing, Caesar moved to Chicago to pursue a career as an editorial illustrator while at the same time accepting a position in Print and Drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago. While there, he focused on the care and treatment of 19th and 20th-century works of art on paper.
Often international travel was required, preparing objects for exhibition, emphasizing pastel paintings by artists such as Degas, Picasso, Monet and Manet, and others. Teaching techniques and using materials was a large part of his job, so setting up a teaching/painting studio was a natural progression after leaving Chicago to raise a family in Michigan.
Teaching Life Drawing and Plein Air painting classes while exhibiting locally connected him to his passion.
